What is a modular toilet block?
A modular toilet block is a self-contained toilet building manufactured in a factory as one or more modules, then transported to site and positioned on prepared foundations. Unlike a hire cabin, it is a new, permanent-quality building specified for your use — with your choice of rooms, fittings and exterior finish.
Sizes and how modules combine
Buildings are made from new insulated modules approximately 2.2m wide and from 2.9m to 6.9m long. Modules can be joined end-to-end to make a longer building, or side-by-side to make a deeper one, so a facility can grow from a single compact toilet to a large multi-room block.
We don't publish a fixed number of toilets per building size until the layout has been drawn and checked. Tell us what you need and we'll produce a floor plan showing what fits.
Standard construction
Every building starts from the same well-proven construction:
- 40mm insulated sandwich-panel walls and roof as standard
- Composite flooring as standard, with 3mm PVC flooring in wet-room areas
- Electrical specification configured to your project
- Manufactured off-site to reduce construction on site
- Relocatable where appropriate
Upgrades
Two upgrades are priced as a percentage of the module shell: 80mm insulated panels for better thermal performance, and external decorative cladding so the building suits its setting — timber-effect, composite or other finishes.
Portable, prefabricated or prefab — what's the difference?
These terms are often used for the same thing. Our buildings are prefabricated (made off-site) and portable in the sense that they can be lifted and relocated, but they are not lightweight hire units. They are designed to be used as proper, long-term toilet facilities.
Who buys modular toilet blocks?
Sports clubs, campsites and holiday parks, farms and rural businesses, workplaces, schools, councils, marinas, equestrian centres and visitor attractions — anywhere that needs reliable toilets without a traditional build.
How much does it cost?
Indicative prices start from the module shell (£3,500 + VAT for the smallest size), plus £1,500 + VAT for each toilet and basin and £1,000 + VAT for each shower. 80mm insulation adds 10% and external cladding adds 20% of the shell price. Your final quotation depends on layout, rooms, equipment, delivery and services. See full prices.
Buying instead of hiring
Finance is available (subject to status), so the cost can be spread much like hire — but you own the building. Because it can be relocated, it keeps some value: if you no longer need it, it can be sold and we can help with that. Resale value depends on condition and the market. Compare buying and hiring.
